Giant Eagle Policies

Most of my savings are from Giant Eagle. Giant Eagle makes it easy to save because they offer great discounts such as: Fuelperks, doubling coupons, checkout rewards, and weekly sales.

Here are some basic points about Giant Eagle and using coupons:
  • You can use up to 12 "like" clipped coupons per transaction. These are coupons clipped from the newspaper inserts. These are called manufacturer coupons.
  • You can use up to 2 "like" printed coupons per transaction. These are coupons printed from the website www.coupons.com, or other printable sources. Each computer or device can only print 2 like coupons. These are also manufacturer coupons.
  • Giant Eagle will DOUBLE coupons up to 99 cents. So if you have a coupon for 75 cents off an item, it will double to $1.50 off.
  • The coupon will only double up to the value of the item. If you have an item that is $1 and you have a coupon for 60 cents off (that would double to a dollar), you can only get up to $1 off that item.
  • Giant Eagle awards 10 cents in Fuelperks for each $50 you spend in the store.
  • Giant Eagle's circular ad becomes available Wednesday for sales that start Thursday. However, you can find these ads online usually Sunday or Monday for the upcoming week.
  • GE will offer a rain check for any item that they don't currently have in the store. For example, if you would like 12 boxes of Cheerios that are on sale for $2, you can get a rain check for 12 boxes at the $2 price. These do not expire, but can only be used once. So, if you are worried that they won't have 12 another time, try getting 2 rain checks for 6 boxes.
  • Sometimes, Giant Eagle will have rewards that they call Checkout Rewards. Current checkout rewards being offered can be found here: http://www.gianteagle.com/Save/Checkout-Rewards/. When you purchase the qualifying items, a print out will come out with your receipt entitling you to $X off your next purchase. Just hold onto that receipt and you can use it off of your next shopping trip.
  • You can only use 1 coupon per item. So, if you have a coupon for "$1/2 boxes of Cheerios" and you have 2 boxes, that is the only coupon you can use. You cannot combine that with another coupon for $1 off of 1 box.
  • If a sale lists an item as Buy One Get One Free, you can use a coupon on each item! The register will ring the item up as half off, instead of one as full price and one as free. So, you can purchase only one of the item at half price if you choose. Here is an example: Frozen pizzas are BOGO free. They are $4 regularly. You purchase 2, one is free. They both will ring up as $2. Say you have a coupon for $1 off 1 pizza, and you have 2 of those coupons. You can use both. Instead of your total being $4, your total is now $2. So essentially, you're getting $8 worth of pizza for $2!
  • Giant Eagle will sometimes offer a store coupon. These are coupons specific to the store and can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even greater savings.
Hopefully this covered some basic info regarding Giant Eagle and their coupon policies. For more specific info, see their coupon policy here: http://www.gianteagle.com/About/Policies/#

The best way to save at Giant Eagle is to combine the sale items from the ad with the current coupons you have!

The ultimate guide to matching what is on sale with what you have coupons for is www.ladysavings.com. She is the way that I get my deals, and without her posting all of the match ups, I wouldn't be saving as much as I am!!

  1. This is fantastic, I love it! So helpful I can't stop reading! I have a question about the coupon inserts in the Sunday paper...is there anywhere online to see what each weeks coupons will include? I thought it may be helpful to decide if it's worth buying multiples each week or not. Thanks!

    1. Hey Sam! I am so glad you like it. :)

The Krazy Coupon Lady is a really helpful website. She usually has a list of coupons that are included this week: http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2014/05/31/sunday-coupon-preview-week-61/

      Hope this helps!!
