Round 1 of Our Giant Eagle Trip: 5/29/14. How we got $64 worth of products for under $3!

Everyone is probably wondering how we purchased 96 rolls of toilet paper for $2.40, and got 8 rolls of paper towels for FREE! In this post, I will outline our most recent Giant Eagle trip in a step-by-step fashion.

To see the deals highlighted in this post and more, visit www.ladysavings.com!

Step 1: Find next week’s ad. Ladysavings.com had the ad posted Sunday or Monday. Because I was away this weekend and pretty busy, I got a chance to look at it Monday.

Step 2: Scan the ad for what’s on sale. I noticed immediately that Angel Soft 4 packs were 10 for $10, and Brawny single rolls were also 10 for $10. General Mills cereal was 5 for $8 (Buy 4 get one free, must buy 4 w/ one free to get that price)! Wishbone dressing is 2 for $3. You will notice that some weeks are great and some are not. In this case, there were 4 major things we wanted this week.

Step 3: Look at your coupons and match them to what is on sale in the ad. I knew right away that I had some good General Mills cereal coupons for Trix, Honey Nut Cheerios, and regular Cheerios. But, not every General Mills cereal is included in the sale. I would have to wait until Thursday morning to see, but I got all of my General Mills coupons out anyways. I also have coupons for Wish Bone, for .70/1, which will double.

Step 4: Check out your apps and the GE Checkout Rewards to see if any other discounts are available! I was happy to see that there were a few rewards I could take advantage of with the sales this week:
- SavingStar App: .50/1 Cheerios (regular kind only), and .50/1 Trix.
- Ibotta App: .75/1 Wishbone dressing

Step 5: Sunday/Monday - Print or order more coupons if needed. With the help of Lady Savings, I found out there was a .45/1 coupon for Angel Soft (12 pack or smaller), and a .55/1 Brawny single roll coupon. Monday, I searched all of my favorite sites for a place to purchase these coupons. I ended up purchasing them from We Clip U Save. Because of the holiday, I was not banking on them to come in right away.

We ordered:
(24) Angel Soft coupons (From the 5/18 Red Plum insert) @ .10 each = $2.40
(24) Brawny coupons (From the 5/18 Red Plum insert) @ .08 each = $1.92
Plus $1 to ship = $5.32.

Now, some people may think "You spent $5.32 on coupons?" But in reality, we planned to purchase a LOT of TP and paper towels! Brawny is usually $1.79/roll. Angel Soft 4 packs are $1.49/roll. With purchasing 24 of each, that would cost $39.36. With purchasing coupons and paying for the products at the store, it would only cost us under $8 for all of that. And I HATE purchasing big packs of toilet paper or paper towels - they are so expensive!

Step 6: Tuesday/Wednesday: Plan out your trip! Here is exactly what we planned to buy, with the coupons that go with it.
