My Giant Eagle Trip: Week of 7/31

Hi everyone! I completed my main Giant Eagle shopping trip this week. Unfortunately, my store has been out of the Chicken of the Sea tuna (see the deal HERE!), so I grabbed a raincheck and I'll have to go back for that.

I knew this was going to be a big trip, and I had kind of planned it out pretty well in advance. I ordered all of my coupons from Bargain Coupon Clippers and Coupon DeDe. I trust both of these sites and have used them often for ordering coupons. I like BCC because they automatically give you 20 of each coupon for a very low price (sometimes $1 for 20 coupons), and I love Coupon Dede because you can buy coupons individually. So if I know I really only need 2 or 3 of a coupon that didn't come in my newspaper, I'll order a bunch at a time, but only 2-3 of each. Hopefully this helps anyone getting started.

I find that for me, it is easier to buy 2-3 Sunday papers, and order the rest of my coupons online. I preview the ad on Monday or Tuesday via the Giant Eagle Couponers Facebook group (someone always has it and will post it early), and then I order my coupons as soon as I know what I want. That way, they're in by Friday and I can do my shopping.

Okay, now for the good stuff...
For all of these deals, please see the post I wrote about this week's Giant Eagle deals. This should also link you to the coupons, if they were printable!

Transaction #1
I have challenged myself to take $20 each month, and see what I can get out of it. I'm going to try to maximize my money as best as I can. I will then take all of those products at the end of the month, and donate them! Oftentimes I find myself giving financially, which is always good, but I feel like I may as well use my fun hobby to see how much I can get! Especially because I don't use everything I have coupons for. For example, the Suave shampoo you'll see in the photo. I don't prefer Suave, and I have about a million other shampoos at home, but with the coupons, it was completely free. Hopefully those who receive it will love it!

Transaction #2
This was a transaction of things for my home and my family. This was seriously a bunch of random things! I had a bunch of yellow Giant Eagle coupons that were about to expire. Yellow Giant Eagle coupons are coupons that come in the mail, specifically for your household. Some people think it is linked to what you have purchased with your advantage card, and who they're given to is totally random. I have received them 3 times. Twice in the winter, and once now. They can usually be stacked with a manufacturer coupon, but it is up to your store - some will take it, some will not. My store will take a Giant Eagle store coupon and a manufacturer coupon.

Other Transactions Included in the Photo:
I also went to my local grocery store, Tops, for the first time yesterday. They have awesome deals, and a gas promotion similar to Fuel Perks. For every 50 points you get, thats $.10 off in gas. You can gain 1 point for every dollar spent, and 10 points for every coupon you use (up to 10 in one transaction).

I purchased...

Totals
Before sales and coupons, $21.12
Out of pocket after sales and coupons, $1.20
After Gas Points, -$3.30
Total Savings: 116%

(Tops Gas Points Calculation:
156 points -> 50 points is .10 off per gallon, so I have 30 points x 15 gallons = $4.50 in Gas Points savings)

So in conclusion, I made $3.30 to shop at Tops yesterday. Yay! :)

Yesterday's Total Spending:
Giant Eagle: $7.50 for $129.86 worth of items
Tops: -$3.30 for $21.12 worth of items
= $4.20 for $151 worth of items = 97% savings!
